Spring 2023 VSELA Meeting

 Richmond Marriott Short Pump

4240 Dominion Blvd. Glen Allen, VA

April 25-26, 2023

Agenda Coming Soon!

Our Spring Conference will focus on Environmental Literacy and Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences.    During this event we will partner with Chesapeake Bay Foundation and other environmental partners to provide opportunities to define and refine strategies of your district's Environmental Literacy Plan.

Attendees can choose from two learning options:

Option 1:  Registration for the Boat Experience is Full!

  • A Chesapeake Bay Foundation-led boat experience on the James River.  Similar to CBF’s one day program for 4th-12th graders, the experience will provide “a unique platform from which participants study the dynamic ecosystem of the James River aboard our fully equipped research vessel.”   VSELA colleagues will sample aquatic life and perform water quality tests while overlooking locations that have significant historical ties to the river—plantations, heavy industry, and serene wildlife preserves.   All gear and boxed lunches will be provided.

Option 2:

  • A campus-based MWEE experience utilizing the hotel grounds.  VSELA colleagues will investigate and incorporate primary source data of the immediate area and compare it to data collected in situ.  Leaders will network and explore the campus to experience relating to how it may relate to implications for their Divisions regarding the updated School Report Card.  Materials and lunch will be provided.

Please select which option you would be most interested in attending.  Option 1 has a seat limit, and it will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Online Registration for the event requesting lodging will close on April 3.    For Associate Members and members not requesting lodging, registration will close on April 14.
  • April 25-26:    Registration and check-ins will be from 9:00-10:00 AM and 4:00-5:00PM.
