Registration

  • VSELA Meeting with no lodging. Does not include preconference.
  • Hotel room for the night of April 28. Does not include preconference.
  • Participation in preconference only.

  • VSELA Meeting and lodging on April 28. Does not include preconference. ($25 registration and one hotel night $50)
  • VSELA Meeting and preconference without lodging.
  • VSELA Meeting and preconference with two hotel nights (April 27 and April 28, 2026). Must attend the preconference to get this rate. Preconference meals and hotel cost are supported by NOAA BWET grant.
  • VSELA Meeting and two hotel nights (April 27 and April 28). ($25 registration and 2 hotel nights $175) - Does not include the preconference
  • Preconference and two nights lodging (April 26-27). This is for folks attending the preconference only and traveling more than 100 miles each way.
  • Preconference and one night lodging on April 27. Must attend entire preconference training to receive this rate. Preconference meals and hotel cost are supported by NOAA BWET grant.

Advancing Environmental Literacy Across Virginia  Preconference

The VSELA Preconference provides a focused, collaborative workday designed for division science leaders engaged in advancing Environmental Literacy Plans. Leaders are encouraged to bring draft versions of their Environmental Literacy Plans to share, review, and refine through structured collaboration and discussion. Participants will receive a statewide update from the Virginia Environmental Literacy Network (VEN), explore ongoing hub leader initiatives, and engage in peer feedback sessions to strengthen and clarify division plans.

The afternoon includes dedicated revision time, opportunities to highlight division successes, and discussion of next steps for continued statewide collaboration. This preconference is ideal for leaders seeking intentional planning time, practical feedback, and meaningful connection with colleagues working toward shared environmental literacy goals.

Please note:

  • Attendance at the preconference is required in order to receive the associated stipend.
  • Intended preconference participants would be for school divisions developing or revising their environmental literacy plans, and individuals directly supporting school divisions with ELIT plans including VEN members and ELIT hub leaders

Spring Conference Agenda

  • The VSELA Spring Conference brings together division science leaders from across Virginia for two days of collaboration, professional learning, and strategic leadership development. Centered on high leverage practices, the conference features breakout sessions focused on AI in science education, data-informed leadership, instructional guides, curriculum enhancement, assessment alignment, and support for effective school-based science teams.

    Participants will engage in regional networking, committee collaboration, vendor connections, and updates from VDOE and VSELA leadership. This conference is designed to strengthen division-level systems, elevate science instruction, and build meaningful partnerships that advance science education statewide.

  • Online Registration for the conference requesting lodging will close on April 3, 2026.      

  •  For Associate Members and members not requesting lodging, registration will close on April 10, 2026.   

  •  Option to register for the preconference will also close on April 10, 2026.  

  • April 28-29 VSELA Conference:  Registration and check-ins will be from 9:00-10:00 AM and 4:00-5:00PM. 

  • All registrations are nonrefundable.
